SEROUS ACINUS – 2
The pancreas is formed by millions of serous acini.
They are small round or oval structures formed by several cells and placed very close to their neighbours.
At first glance and at a low magnification it is not always easy to distinguish the individual acini as they are placed closely together. Examine the image very carefully and try to identify them.
There are dozens of acini in this image. Some of them become highlighted when you place the cursor or click on the figure. Distinguish the other ones.
At the center of the image notice a region with connective tissue that surrounds and supports a medium-sized excretory duct. Duct cells highlighted in dark blue and the duct lumen in light blue.
